Diagnose before replacing ingredients

Provide the quantitative formula, available documents, specifications, process, packaging and test results. Agree which characteristics must remain: texture, application, fragrance, colour, cost or documented performance. Confidentiality is formalised within the project scope.

Assess gaps against the intended standard

Review ingredient composition and processing, supplier information, preservation, fragrance and packaging. Identify what can remain and what needs alternatives or further documentation. COSMOS feasibility depends on the whole project.

Compare prototypes and validate changes

A replacement can alter viscosity, stability, odour, colour or skin feel. Compare prototypes against agreed criteria. Adapt stability, microbiology, packaging and claims evaluation to the changes, then update product specifications and documentation.

Return to manufacturing

After validation and agreed requirements are complete, document process parameters and assess scale-up. Coordinate suppliers and materials for reproducibility and traceability. Send the starting formula or sample, markets, certification objective, packaging, volumes and target date.
